 Radiology Department
Welcome to the Radiology Department at Litzenberg!
Comprising our radiology department are technologists Paul Dietz RT (R), Kelsey Vakiner RT (R), Michelle Myer RT (R), and Heather Seitz RT (R). They are trained in many procedures in the radiology field.
Our department has recently purchased some new equipment consisting of a Siemens Somatom Emotion 6 CT and a digital Kodak system. The new Emotion 6 allows us to scan the body in a minimal amount of time by using six detectors to produce the images. The system also allows us to do a variety of manipulation with the obtained images. These scans are then sent directly to our radiologists by computer for faster results.
The new CR 500 Digital Computerized Radiology system we have installed allows us to take x-rays without the use of film. This machine allows quicker processing time, only 54 seconds to process a picture, and eliminates the old process of having to use a dark room, chemicals, and a processor to acquire the desired image. The CR 500 helps the tech to work "smarter" by eliminating time used to process images and to network into remote areas. We can now decrease the time in getting results dictated from the radiologists which in turn expedites patient care. The results can be as quick as a phone call. Our CR 500 is pictured above.
We have the capability to send CT scans as well as diagnostic x-rays to Grand Island to be read as soon as the radiologist can sit down in front of a computer and look at the images. Both these new machines have given us the ability to transfer exams to a computer disc for patients to pick up and take to their physician.
Two new services now offered at Litzenberg are Bone Density Scans and PET/CT Scans. The Bone Density Scan is a quick, painless test that requires physician referral. The PET/CT Scan is a test that combines cell function monitoring with its anatomical location for diagnosis and selection of course of treatment. This test also requires physician referral.
Our facility also offers ultrasound on Mondays, Wednesday, and Thursdays, MRI service twice a week, Wednesday and Friday, mammograms on Tuesday AM/PM and Thursday mornings, and vascular studies on Wednesdays and Fridays. If you have any questions regarding an exam, our equipment or services please give us a call at 308-946-3015.
