Introducing Our New CT Scan
With the purchase of a new CT scan, Litzenberg Memorial County Hospital's radiology department now has available the newest technology in the field. The Siemens Somatom Emotion 6 CT unit will allow staff to conduct patient scans more quickly while covering more area than before. The "6" in the unit's name refers to the multi-detectors used to acquire testing information. In the past the scanner used by the hospital utilized a single detector.
The new scan will enable the radiology staff to offer patients and residents a more thorough exam with more timely results, all aimed at helping the physicians make earlier diagnoses. Results from the new scanner can be viewed in 3-D and in full rotation. Turnaround time for reports will be hastened greatly and the results can be burned onto a CD, allowing a patient to take a copy to their next doctor's appointment. These CDs come with their own viewing tool and can be used on almost any computer.
